Yesterday was the Joe Seeley 10K the major road race of the Winter with a field that reflected that status. The race is run annually in commemoration of an athlete whom I can remember running against over 30 years ago. A great athlete and a gentleman.
North had a superb day with a lot of personal bests. In the men’s race Allan O’Hara and Conor Magill finished 4th and 6th with PB’s two excellent runs. The six man team who came second was filled by Eamon White 12th, Tommy Hughes 28th, Michael Fitzpatrick 33rd and Darryl Blair 37th. Just outside the team Davy Brady showed a return to form in 61st, Peter Savage 63rd, Alan Ritchie 65th, John Patience 69th, Eoin McQuillan 80th PB, Paddy Hamill 96th, Barry Reid 102nd PB, Laurence Johnston 125th, Greg McClure 169th, Francis McCaffery 235th and Victor Johnston 410th. I know Aiden O’Reilly also ran well but appears to be missing from results.
In the woman’s race Cathy McCourt ran her best time for at least 10 years to win by an impressive margin. Behind her Breege Connolly was 3rd, Amanda Perry 6th and Geraldine Quigley 15th to win the team competition.
Great performances all round which shows good team spirit. Coupled with new facilities and new members we are obviously on the right track keep it going everybody and well done.
