Victories all round at Albertville

In the first road race of the season North Belfast had a successful day at Albertville 5 mile road race.

Alan O’Hara, after leading from start to finish, had a superb victory while the men retained the team prize and Cathy McCourt won the womens race.

Michael Fitzpatrick had a strong race to finish second North runner while Conor Curran, in his first race in the club vest, closely followed him. Alan Ritchie was next with an 80 second PB. Next up was Gareth Grew followed by Eddie Burns in his first race back in a while. Paul Jenkins, who ran a 41 second PB to finish just outside 29 minutes, and Jim Newberry were next up with good races. Cathy led from start to finish in the womens race.

Special mention should also go to Norman Bissett’s slightly suspect driving manouvres while trying to keep in touch with his athletes and subsequent reprimand from the long arm of the law!
