Eamon White was in a class of his own at the Run Armagh 10km today. The popular event which starts outside the Planetarium was supported by over 300 runners, an excellent turn out for Mother’s Day..
Eamon’s winning time of 33.33 was some four minutes ahead of the second placed runner, Shea Roddy with most of Eamon’s main competitors deciding to either race in Omagh or save their energy for the Titanic 10km next Sunday.
In Omagh, the star performer for North Belfast Harriers was undoubtedly Breege Connolly.
Breege finished second to Bejing Marathon star Pauline Curley but was lauded for taking the race to her in the early stages.
The two were inseperable by the 9 mile mark but Curley’s strength and experience showed as she recorded the win in 1.18.34 to Breege’s 1.19.16 (PB).
Breege is obviously benefitting from the training ahead of the London Marathon later this month.
Also benefitting from marathon preparation are Michael Fitzpatrick who came 11th in the men’s race (1.14.44), Gerry McNamara (1.23.19, PB), Greg McClure (1.23.39), Stevie Walker (1.25.10) and Lisa Sturgeon who was showing a welcome return to form after a bout of recent illness (1.25.55).
