Scullion back to sink Titanic field

This Sunday will see over 1200 runners competing in the Titanic 10km with North Belfast Harrier’s Stephen Scullion billed as pre-race favourite.

Stephen has just returned from a spell of warm weather training in Portugal where under the instructions of Bud Buldaro and UK Endurance Coach, Nick Anderson, he was putting in some very impressive training.

Stephen will be gunning for a fast time following an off form outing at the Home Countries Cross Country International at Greenmount.

With Paddy Hamilton of Annadale confirmed to start alongside Joe McAllister, Dave Morwood, Alan McCullough, Diarmuid Grant and club mate Alan O’Hara, the pace should be hot up top.

The team race looks like it might be a close affair with only 3 to score but Harriers will have strength in depth with Armagh 10km winner, Eamon White, Conor Curran and Darryl Blair all training and racing well at the moment.

Matt Shields will be favourite to take the M55 title.

In the women’s race, Kerry Harty starts as the obvious favourite but she might find herself pushed by an in form Breege Connolly who has notched up some impressive performances in Bundoran and Omagh recently, albeit over longer distances.

Club mate Cathy McCourt and Julie Turley (Dromore) will be in the mix too. Race Report and results to follow later this weekend. Good luck to all Harriers !
