Emma Doherty second in UK championships

Emma Doherty proved she is one of the best race walkers in the United Kingdom with a fantastic performance in London last weekend at the UK Athletics 10km Walk Championships.

The event was held in central London and covered a large part of the 2012 Olympic Walking Course.

Following up on her recent success on the track (last month Emma won the Ulster Schools 2000m Walk in 9.47.11), Emma turned in a personal best performance of 53.18, five seconds ahead of Lauren Whelan from the Isle of Man club, Manx.

The race was won by Heather Lewis of Pembrokeshire in 51.46.

Emma now turns her attention to the Irish Schools Track and Field Championships where she will be one of the favourites for gold in the 3000m Walk. Good luck Emma from everyone at the club !
