Cathy wins British Masters and weekend roundup

Highlight of the weekend was Cathy(McCourt) travelling to Horwich festival of racing to take part in the British masters 5k. Cathy ran a great race on a tough course to finish British masters O35 champion in 18:10. Cathy finished 3rd female with results here.

Stephen Scullion was on international duty for Ireland with the European Team Championships taking place in Turkey on Saturday.

Stephen had a solid race in the 5,00u0m to finish eighth in 14:36. Results can be found here.

The 2nd round of the  Northern Ireland mountain running championships took place in Carlingford on Sunday with Neil Carty taking part and finishing 5th among a very strong field.

In the NI juvenile track and field championships taking place on Saturday Eddie Bell’s kids had their first run out for the club. Ciaran Barnes had excellent fourths in the u14 boys 100 metres and 200 metres  with 11.13 and 28:16 respectively. Connor Morrow also had a good run in the 200 metres heats. Both boys also took part and competed well in the 80 metres heats.

In the less competitive surroundings of the parkrun several harriers ran in the waterworks.

Mark Sturgeon continued his return to form to finish 1st harrier and 4th overall in a new (parkrun) PB of 18:18. Greg McClure had another top ten finish with 9th position in 19:14 with waterworks parkrun leader Damien Gill amassing more points to finish 15th in 2010.

Mary Ringland finished 9th woman with 25:27 with young Damien Marquess not far behind her finishing 71st in 25:44. Jimmy (Nolan) was for once off supervisor duty to record a new PB in 28:51 with parkrun regular Jim Clinton finishing in 35:54.
