Marathon man Greg steps it up to 24 hours

Greg's going for Marathon no.50

Marathon man Greg McClure steps into unknown territory this Friday night when he takes part in the Energia 24 hour race at the Mary Peters Track in Belfast.

Greg has had a great year thus far between 10ks, half marathons, marathons and being one of the most regular waterworks parkrun participants as well. Greg ran his 50th ever marathon in Belfast this year running ,as per usual, a sub 3 hour time.

When asked about the 24 hour race Greg said “I guess now’s the time to take the plunge and see how I cope with the physical and mental challenge,”

The race begins at 6:45 p.m. on Friday the 22nd of July and will include competitors from all over the world as well as being the Irish championships. 15 counties from Ireland will be represented and over 40 competitors are taking part.

Many club members do their runs from the Mary Peters track on a saturday. For those who are in the area please call in and support Greg as, especially after a sleepless night, the more support he gets the better. Good luck Greg!
