In a quiet weekend for racing the major action was in the North West at Gransha for the annual XC. The race covered 6k in mucky conditions with the female, male and vets all taking part in one race.
Cathy McCourt was the sole representative for the women and had an easy victory – beating the next woman home by 40+ seconds.
In the mens race four harriers turned out. Alan O’Hara had a good battle with some of the locals giving him a top ten finish in eigth. Eddie Cooke was next up with a good race in 21st with Alan Ritchie running well to finish in 41st. Lance Breen ran his first cross country to help the team out and had a good race to finish in 78th.
With cross country league points at stake the mens team got points for fourth team and points for four competitors. City of Derry scored maximum points to close the gap significantly but North Belfast remain top of the league.
Santa 5k run stormont
In the Christmas santa run at stormont Gregory Walsh ran a nippy 16:51 to take victory with Greg McClure also taking part and running a solid 20:00.
Unfortunately due to black ice on the course at the waterworks the weekly parkrun had to be cancelled. Normal service will hopefully return next weekend.
