All Ireland silver in Santry for the girls
Breege Connolly, Sharon Trimble-Bird, Gladys Ganiel-O’Neill and Cathy McCourt travelled to Santry on Sunday to form a strong team and represent the club in the All Ireland inter club XC championships.
All the girls had great runs with Breege finishing first harrier, continuing her great run at greenmount, in 5th, Sharon finishing just behind in 6th, Gladys close behind again in 8th and Cathy in 20th place.
This gave the girls 39 points to finish 2nd. This was a valiant 2nd to a DSD team who contained two olympic bound athletes – DSD finished on 34 points. Clonliffe were a distant 3rd on 53 points.

Men win NI XC league
The men continued from where they left of by fielding a massive 21 competitors, the most of any club there, in the annual stormont XC. This race was the last of the NI XC league and with City of Derry close behind in the league the race took on even greater importance.
Up front Darryl Blair had another good race for 6th, Neil Carty finished 9th and Eddie Cooke finished 13th to complete the scorers for the day. This gave the team 28 points for 2nd place behind winners Willowfield in 21 points.
Peter Savage had his first race for some time to finish 23rd with Alan Ritchie, fresh from his parkrun victory, having another good run for 27th. With the NI XC league team scores counting 4 competitors this left the men in joint 2nd with North Down giving the club victory.
Next up there was some inter club rivalry going on with Simon Reeve continuing his good run of XC form to pip Laurence Johnston for 31st while just behind Stevie Walker pipped Travis Todd in a sprint finish for 33rd and 34th place respectively.
There was more club rivalry behind this with Matt Shields pipping John Patience for 39th with John McGuigan 46th. Further back Eoin McQuillan finished 50th after some toing and froing with Jim Newberry (52nd) and Tony McNulty(54th). Lance Breen had another good run to finish just behind in 55th.
Robert Irvine finished 62nd, Mark Shields 67th, Greg McClure 71st with Paul Williams running his second cross country for a good race in 83rd and Drew Crawford 106th.
In the ladies race Nuala Muldoon ran well and finished 28th.

Ben Derg 10k
Angela Burns and Jim Clinton travelled to Ben Derg for the 10k race. Angela had a great race for first girl home and Jim finished in 45:19.
This week saw the new Queens parkrun begin with several Harriers making the journey to the other end of town. Alan Ritchie continued his good form and won in 17:31, Matt Shields had his first run of the day for 19:15 in 3rd, John Lavery ran a new parkrun PB for 8th in 20:54, waterworks champion Damien Gill finished 14th in 21:30 and Claire Prenter finished 36th in 24:11.
Over at the waterworks another large crowd of harriers turned out. Martin Rea had another victory in 17:12 while Simon Reeve was next harrier for 6th place in 18:26 with Gerard McNamara just behind in 18:42.
John Murphy equalled his PB of 19:20 for 10th just ahead of Claire Connor , who won the ladies race, in 19:26. Club secretary Jennifer Bill finished second lady in 21:45 with Ita McCambridge 5th woman in a new PB of 22:14. Jim Clinton had a good run for 39th in 22:41, Orla McCambridge finished 6th lady in 22:41, Mannix McAllister finished 55th in 24:38 and Daragh McNairney finished 65th in 24:53.
