Breege 1st / Connor 2nd in Lisburn & weekend roundup

It was the annual Lisburn 10k and half marathons on wednesday night with thousands participating. The harriers had a large contingent of athletes out in both races. In the 10k Breege Connolly had a facile victory in the womens race  finishing almost 2 minutes ahead of the next woman in 36:03. In the half marathon Connor Magill continued his impressive run of form to take 2nd running just outside 1:10 in 1:10:07.

Lisburn 10k

In the 10k Eamon White was first harrier up crossing the line for 5th in 32:40.  Stevie Walker ran close to his PB in 36:29 for 16th  just ahead of clubmate and local John Patience who ran 36:44 for 17th. Next up two harriers battled it out with Paul Jenkins taking 24th in 37:37 just ahead of Alan Ritchie who finished 25th in 37:49.

Gerard McNamara had a good run in 38:07 along with Tony McNultyrunning 39:11.

Judi Graham took 5th place in the womens race running just inside 40 minutes in 39:55 with Ciaran Browne finishing in 48:18.

Lisburn half marathon

Andrew Considine continued his good run of form for 4th running 1:19:56. Lisa Sturgeon was next harrier up , running her first half of the year, for 6th place in the womens race in 1:30 dead closely followed by Greg McClure in1:30:08 just ahead of John Murphy in 1:30:24.

New recruit Sean McShane ran 1:32:31 while Francie McCaffrey made his annual appearance at the Lisburn half for 1:34:05.

Killian Woods ran 1:48:33 with John Burns running 1:52:40.

East Antrim Trail series

In the woodburn race on Tuesday night Marty Rea followed up 3rd place in the previous race with 1st place in 25:22 – 50 seconds ahead of the opposition. Gareth Grew also had a good race finishing 3rd in 26:21.

parkrun

The harriers provided 3 of 4 winners in the Belfast parkruns. At the waterworks Marty Rea was first across the line in 17:06. at Queens Eddie Cooke was first man across the line in 17:43 with Claire Prenter first woman in 21:50 while over at the falls Paul Blaney was first across the line in 18:15.

At the waterworks there was the usual large contingent of harriers with Jim Benson 3rd in 17:39, John Murphy (new PB) 5th in 19:18, young Tony McCambridge (new PB) 11th in 19:56, Sean McShane(new PB) 12th in 20:01, John Black  13th in 20:02, Lance Breen 18th in 21:04, Matt Shields 27th in 22:06, Paul Williams 32nd in 23:09, John Burns (new PB) 39th in 23:39, Jack Carberry 52nd in 24:55, Darragh McNairney 57th in 25:35 and Jimmy Nolan 90th in 32:34.

At Queens the Lavery brothers also took part with John finishing in 21:44 and Kevin in 23:59.
