Connor Magill made the long journey to Santry after his NI 5,000 metre track title to pit his wits in the Irish nationals. Connor had a great race despite trying conditions to finish a fraction of a second outside his PB in 14:59:03.
With it being a quiet weekend several harriers made the short journey to Greyabbey for it’s annual 10k on Friday night. The men had a strong showing with Conor Curran leading the way in his first 10k of the year for 2nd place in 34:29. Eddie Cooke finished up in 4th in 35:24 closely followed by Michael Fitzpatrick in 5th with 35:42.
Stevie Walker and Travis Todd renewed their rivalry with Stevie taking 7th in 36:40 just ahead of Travis who finished 8th in 37:10. Greg McClure finished 31st in 42:59.
These results were enough for the club to easily take the mens team victory.
Tollymore 12k trail race
Simon Reeve had a good showing in the Tollymore trail race on Saturday to take 9th place.
Louise McLean finished 1st F40 in the Strabane 10k.
Numbers were down a bit on saturday morning due to severe downpours but this did not deter several harriers from taking part.
Over at the waterworks the harriers had 5 top 10 finishers – Gerry Gribbon 3rd in 19:12, John Murphy 4th in 19:57, Sean McShane 5th in 20:04, Jim Newberry 8th in 20:35 and young Tony McCambridge 9th in 21:07.
Greg McClure finished just outside after his Greyabbey expliuts for 11th in 21:35, Lance Breen 23rd in 23:02, Jack Carberry (new PB) 24th in 23:03, John Burns 30th in 24:05, coach Jimmy Nolan 67th in 32:24, Norman Patterson 72nd in 34:43 and Aaron McCann 77th in 36:33/
Over at Queens Philip Donnelly finished 4th in 20:28 and Claire Prenter was 2nd girl in 25:54.
Jim Clinton finished 9th over at the falls.
