The Park Runs were the main events on offer in a quiet weekend on the road racing scene. The Harriers were to the fore at Park Runs around the city, with Conor Curran finishing first in the Waterworks Park Run in 16.45 and Claire Connor winning the Victoria Park Run in a new personal best of 18.45.
Waterworks Park Run
Conor’s run was another solid performance, building on his second place finish in last weekend’s Greyabbey 10k. Eoin McQuillan was next across the line, clocking 18.35 for fifth, followed by Sean McShane (19.47 for 11th), Matt Shields (20.38 for 13th) and Lance Breen (21.00 for 15th). Just one second and one place back was Kilian Woods in 21.01. Next home were Paul Williams (22.18), Jack Carberry (23.38) and Jimmy Nolan (31.14). The women’s winner was Dromore AC’s Geraldine Branagh in 19.42.
Victoria and Falls Park Runs
It was heartening to see Clarie shave some time off her personal best in the Victoria Park Run, as well as finish as the top female. Paul Jenkins was also to the fore, finishing third among men’s competitors (18.01), while Jim Newberry ran 19.45.
At the hilly Falls Park Run, Jim Clinton timed 24.40 for sixth.
