Weekend roundup

There were races taking part up north and down south at the weekend with several harriers making some long journeys to record some good times.

Dublin runner 10 miler

In the Dublin runner 10 miler on Saturday Martin Rea and Eddie Cooke made the journey for the mass participation event in the Dublin series. Even with the large crowds Martin and Eddie were only seperated by one place with Martin finishing 22nd in 55:56 and Eddie finishing 20 seconds behind for 23rd in 56:16(a 90 second PB)

Longford marathon and half marathon

Marathon man Greg McClure took part in the full marathon down in Longford winning the M55 category by over 12 minutes to finish in 3:16:35. Aidan O’Reilly did his first half in a while to finish 47th in the Male open category in 1:37:13.

Conor Curran made the journey to Moneymore to pick up his second consecutive win on a challenging course finishing in 34:45 winning by just over a minte.

Skerry Heights 10k

In the first ever Skerry heights 10k which was a new event as part of the local Glenravel festival Eoin McQuillan traveled finishing 2nd on a course which lived up to it’s name in 38:35. The race was won by Ian Taggart of Ballymena runners.

Moneymore 10k

parkrun

The usual contingent of harriers took part in various parkruns over the weekend. Over at the waterworks Michael Fitzpatrick had his consecutive win finishing in 17:13. Several other harriers took part – Matt Shields was 9th in 19:11, Sean McShane 13th in 19:50, Greg McClure 14th in 19:51, Lance Breen 15th in 20:01, junior Tony McCambridge 19th in 21:01, Paul Williams recording a new PB of 21:23 for 22nd, junior Damian Marquess 26th in 21:59, Patrick McShane 31st in 22:18, Jack Carberry recording a new PB for 38th in 22:48, Joe Beattie 40th in 23:27, John Burns 46th in 24:20, junior Darragh McNairney 56th in 26:08, John Marquess 88th in 29:53, junior Adam Lamb 89th in 30:01 and junior Aaron McCann finishing 111th in 39:06.

Over at Victoria Peter Morrison equaled his PB in 18:14 for 4th while Damien Gill also finished 4th at Falls in 21:56 equaling his Falls PB. At Queens Philip Donnelly finished 10th in 20:13.

Crawsfordburn Trail 5k

At the challenging Crawsfordburn trail race Paul Blaney finished 4th in 18:28, Paul Jenkins 11th in 19:44 and Judi Graham was 2nd lady in 31st place.
