The Waterworks parkrun celebrated its 100th outing on Saturday. To celebrate the special occasion the run was organised by junior volunteers.
The century was no excuse for taking it easy and a total of 26 Harriers took park with lots of great performances.
1st runner home was Darryl Blair 16:36, 4th was junior Conal McCambridge 17:20 with a new PB. Matt Shields was 5th (17:58) which was the best age graded performance of the day.
John Patience was 12th (18:55) with Gerry Gribbon one place and one second behind; which was good enough for a PB.
Sean McShane was not far behind in 14th (18:59) and another PB. Tony McCambridge was 15th (19:01) PB! while Niall Geehan was 21st in his first waterworks parkrun (19:35)
Next up was Greg McClure in 23rd (19:38), John Black was 25th (20:03), Mark Shields was 26th (20:06), Laurence Johnston 28th (20:12), John Murphy was 29th (20:14).
The next two personal bests went to Paul Williams in 31st (20:23) and Patrick McShane in 35th (20:47).
Lance Breen was 37th (21:09) followed by Ita McCambridge 56th (22:22) and Patrick McCambridge 57th and PB (22:23). 59th was Mannix McAlister (22:35), then Mathew Verdon 65th (23:01), John Burns was 70th (23:44), 89th was Darragh McNairney (25:02), Mollie O’Hare was a first timer in 96th (25:50) as was Katie O’Hare in 96th (25:51). Brendan McCambridge recorded a PB in 101st (26:16) and Jim Clinton was 159th (39:52)
Gladys Ganiel visited Victoria for the first time and was first woman home (18:01) and fourth overall. Helen Weir was second woman and achieved a PB (21:07). Drew Crawford also ran home in 27:17 105th.
Peter Savage also visited Citypark for the first time and ran well for second place (17:49).
At Ecos junior Connor McQuillan was an impressive third overall (19:12).
Over at Queens parkrun Philip Donnelly was fourth in a time of 19:30 which was his third PB in a row.
Decathlon 10K and Half Marathon
On Sunday saw the running of the Decathlon 10K and Half Marathon races around Hollywood Exchange.
The race was won by Conor Murphy (Unattached) in a time of 31:49. Andrew Considine was the first Harrier home in 4th place with a time of 34:22. He was immediately followed by Travis Todd, 5th in 36:18. John McGuigan was 8th fastest in 38:08 and Michael McCormick was 12th 40:17
Ryan Holt won the half marathon race which was two laps of the flat course in 1:12:45. Greg McClure was fine turning his preparations for the Berlin marathon and was first Harrier home in 14th, 1:27:24. Not far behind was Arran Rutledge in 28th 1:33:11. While Jack Carberry and Thomas McKinstry finished together in 66th (1:45:22) and 67th (1:45:23) respectively.
Breege Connolly finished 1st at the Felix 10K in Dungannon in an unofficial time of 35.15.
