Simon successful on Divis and Helen 2nd/ weekend roundup


With holiday season still uponus there were harriers racing far and wide at the weekend.

McCambridges on tour

The McCambridge family took in two 5ks while on their travels in Donegal. On Thursday night in Milford Ita took her age category prize winning in 22:31 while Paddy took 51 seconds of his PB for 20:51. Conal took 2nd place overall in 17:11 finishing 1st in his category. On Friday night Ita again took 1st in her age group in 23:16 with Paddy finishing 4th in his age group in 23:19. Brendan ran a new PB of 24:06 while Conal again finished high up running 17:30 for 3rd place.

Divis 10k

SimmonDivisOn Sunday club member Nuala Muldoon organised the challenging Divis mountain 10k for Action on Hearing Loss NI getting 100 runners in the process. 1st across the line was keen mountain man and harrier Simon Reeve finishing in 38:01 over a minute ahead of 2nd place. Sean McShane claimed a top 10 place in 40:46 with Kilian Woods making the top 20 in 44:06 for 17th and Martin Cox taking 20th in 44:51. Helen Weir was next up for 2nd lady in 45:54.  Patrick McShane finished 30th in 47:01, Paul Williams 41st in 49:21 and John Burns made the top 50 in 52:17.

NFU Ballymoney 5 miler

Laurence Johnston made the journey to Ballymoney on Friday night finishing just outside the top 10 for 11th in 29:04.

Downpatrick RGU 10K

On Wednesday in Downpatrick several harriers took to the line for the annual RGU 10k. First up was Michael Fitzpatrick finishing 6th in 36:21. Greg McClure finished 31st in 41:25.  Mark Shields was next in 42:14.

Cookstown half marathon

At the original Cookstown half marathon Greg McClure had a top ten finish for 7th in 1:29:56. Mark Ramsey finished 43rd in 2:02:30.

Commedagh chase

IMG_9914-leaders-e1374999033462-682x1024In the mountains Neil Carty continued his fine form just missing out on a podium finish taking 4th in 1:04:55. Simon Reeve also made the top 10 finishing 8th in 1:10:50.


At Kingston Matt Shields took in the parkrun on his travels finishing just 3 seconds behind the winner for 2nd in 17:58.

Back at base camp at the waterworks Brendan Grew returned from his travels to win in 17:18. Sean McShane also made a top 10 in 19:24.  Greg McClure and Laurence Johnston battled it out for 11th in 19:45 and 19:47 respectively. Gerry Gribbon was just outside the 20 minutes finishing in 20:07 for 14th just pipping John Murphy who finished in 20:10.

Jenny Bill finished 2nd lady in 21:48 pipping Lance Breen in 21:53.  Jack Carberry broke 22 minutes again in 21:58 . Paul Williams finished in 22:26, Tony McCambridge 22:30, Nuala Muldoon 23:41, Kilian Woods 22:44,young Katie O’Hare 24:39, John O’Hare 26:07, Mollie O’Hare 26:10, John Burns 27:06, Martin Cox 29:06 and Christine Douglas 34:59.

Over at Falls parkrun stalwart Jim Clinton finished 47th in 32:35. At Ormeau Mark Shields finished 22nd in 20:56 while at Queens Claire Prenter was 1st lady in 20:07 pipping husband Philip Donnelly in 20:28.
