Juvenile Cross Country Championships

AAI Uneven & Novice XC Championships

tony1On Sunday the annual running of the Woodies DIY Novice & Uneven Age Cross Country Championships took place in W.I.T Sports Campus in Waterford. This event is the Athletics Ireland Juvenile cross country event of the year and eleven Harriers made the journey to the multi-race event to represent the club, county and province.

The Under 13 boys category took part over a 2.5km course and featured the largest number of runners with Tony McCambridge leading the team home in 8th position and also being the 2nd qualifying finisher for the Ulster team. Thomas Reid was next across the line  finishing in 43rd position, followed by Damien Marquess in 98th, Fionn Nagel in 105th, Adam Tepe in 135th and Brendan McCambridge in 143rd. Overall Ulster finished in 3rd, with Antrim in 9th and the Club finishing in 10th.

In the under 15 girls Rioghnach Catney and Roasile Hoy tackled the 3km course. Rioghnach finished in 68th and Roasile finished in 105th with Ulster finishing in in 3rd and Antrim in 7th.

Next up was the under 17 girls with Maya Cathie being the sole Harrier representing the club and finishing in 73rd over the 4km course. Ulster finished 1st and Antrim in 2nd in this age group. The under 17 boys was represented by Niall Geehan who had a good performance to count as the 6th man across the line in 77th position overall helping Antrim to a 3rd place position. Ulster also performed well in this group finishing 3rd.

Finally the U19 boys category competed over a tough 6km course with Conal McCambridge finishing in 26th position overall and 4th place finisher for the Ulster team helping them to finish in 3rd position overall.

Sperrin Harriers Winter Trail Series

On Saturday Mark McKinstry stood on top of the podium once again when he competed around Lough Fea near Cookstown in the latest installment of the Sperrin Harriers Winter trail series. Mark bested a field of just under one hundred to complete the 5km course in a time of 17:29 finishing in 1st position.
