North juniors bring home medals at indoors / roundup


photo(3) It was the indoors for the juniors at the weekend in the Meadowbank Arena, Magerafelt. The weekend started with the shortest race on the calendar, the 60m. First up were the U14’s with Aine Neilan and Isaac Jarmin both having good races to finish their heats to finish in 5th place. The U15’s were next with Laila Murray and Sinead O’Rawe having good runs to finish their heats in 7th and 5th place respectively. In the U17 boys, Adam McCullough finished his heat in 7th place. Three medals followed shortly with Rebecca Marquess claiming bronze in the U19 girls age group and Caitlin Maguire and Micheal McGreevey claiming silver in the U16 races.


The 600m was the next event and first to the start line was Bryanna Catney who had an excellent run to finish 20th in the U13 section. In the boys race Fionn Nagle had a strong run for a top 10 finish in 8th place. The 800 m followed with the club having 4 runners in the U14 section. Mollie O’Hare had a great run to finish 18th in the girls race with Tony McCambridge, Thomas Reid and Damian Marquess Finishing in 5th, 10th and 12th respectively. Raoisle Hoy and Dominique McAllister were last to the start line on day one of the event in the U15 girls and both ran well to finish in 12th and 15th place respectively.


photo(4)Day two started with a medal in the first race with Rioghnach Catney finishing 3rd in the U16 1500m. She was closely followed by Ciara Neilan who finished 5th. Eamonn Sheridan ran well in the boys U16 race for a top 10 finish in 9th place. Next up was Katie O’Hare in the U17 girls. Katie had a great run to finish just outside the medals in 4th place. Four boys ran in the U17 boys race. Harry Brewster was first over the line in 6th place with Andrew Milligan, Conor O’Rawe and Niall Armstrong all achieving top ten finishes in 8th, 9th and 10th respectively.


The 200m was the last event to see young Harriers competing. Caitlin Maguire won her second medal of the weekend winning bronze in U16 section. Last to the start line was Katie McCambridge who had a brilliant run to finish 5th in the U18 girls final.

Stormont 10k

On Thursday night the night time 26 extreme event took place in the stormont grounds. Several harriers made the journey over and up at the front it was a battle for 3rd, 4th and 5th with Alan Ritchie taking 3rd, Niall Farquarshon 4th and Marty Rea 5th.

Minnowburn 10k

Born2run hosted the new Minnowburn 10k on saturday taking in several routes familiar with North Belfast runners. Conor Curran made his trail race debut making the podium in the process for 2nd place. Paul Williams made it into the top 50 finishing in 47:25 closely followed by Athanasia Sevastaki, who was 5th girl across the line, finishing in 47:54.

Enniskillen XC

Mark McKinstry and Marc Jennings who have both shown good improvement and some good battles in the process made the journey both making it into the top ten for 9th and 10th respectively. In the womens race Paula Wallace made the journey having a solid race for 28th.
