Team wins at Albertville / McKinstry wins sperrin series / weekend roundup

Lough Fea Trail race

1922034_10152264018857889_1947323373_nAt the Sperrin Harriers 10 mile trail race in Lough Fea Mark McKinstry continued his excellent early season form to finish 2nd in 57:44. This was enough to clinch the series for Mark.

Albertville 5 mile
Road-race season started in full at the weekend with the local Albertville 5 miler taking place.  The race had an unexpected bonus of being graced with the presence of double european champion Fionnuala Britton. The harriers made it out in force taking the mens team prize.

Conor Curran was first harrier over the line in 4th setting a new PB in the process of 26:40. The guys then packed tightly to take the team title with Darryl Blair(27:10), Ed Cooke(27:30) and Andrew Considine(27:37) taking 6th, 7th and 8th respectively.

Stephen Walker(15th) , Paul Horan(19th) and Kent Swann(20th) all made the top 20 running 28:56, 29:37 and 29:39 respectively.

In a strong womens field Claire Connor had a great race to finish 3rd (to Fionnualla Britton and Kerry O’Flaherty)in 29:53.

James Wallace just missed out on 30 minutes finishing 25th in 30:06, Sean McShane also making the top 30 in 30:46. Recent recruit Rory Kane finished 38th in 31:10.

Greg McClure made 43rd in 31:22, Ray Cameron 59th in 33:21 just ahead of a dead heat between James Mahon and Patrick McShane.(33:30).  Paul Williams finished 67th in 34:08.

Piaras McShane made first junior across the line in 36:45 pipping Paula Wallace in 36:55 and Jason Reid in 37:02 while Nuala Muldoon broke the 40 mark in 39:21.

Bundoran

In a strong field at the Cara Bundoran 10 miler Breege Connolly had a great battle at the front to take 2nd place in 59:46 just being pipped at the front.

Carlingford Half marathon

At the Carlingford half Gerard McNamara finished in 25th just pipping the 1:25 barrier finishing in 1:24:59. Andrew Harding notched a new PB in 1:39:01. Alan Ritchie and Martin Cox both ran big PBs with Alan taking 2 and a half minutes of his for 1:17:46 and Martin taking 3 minutes of his and breaking 1:30 in the process for 1:27:05.

parkrun
