Six young Harriers took part in the Ulster Schools track & field finals at the Antrim Forum at the weekend having qualified from the district heats. The events began on Friday night with Conor McQuillan finishing 5th in the intermediate boys age group 3000m in a time of 9.49. Saturday started with Ellie Bradley finishing in 7th place with a throw of 21.38 in the junior girls javelin competition. Next on the track were the sprinters with Rebecca Marquess putting the disappointment of finishing 5th in the senior girls 100m to take bronze in the 200m. Caitlin Maguire had a fantastic day having to climb onto the podium on two occasions winning bronze in both 100m and 200m in the intermediate girls age group. With the sprints completed it was the turn of the youngest Harrier on the day Rebecca Wallace to line up on the start line. Rebecca finished 7th in the minor girls 800m equalling her personal best on 2.39 in the process. Last up was Rioghnach Catney competing in the intermediate girls 1500m. Rioghnach had a great run to finish 9th taking 7 seconds of her personal best.
