Saturday saw the juniors claiming some well deserved success at the cross country in Ballyclare. First up in the U11s over a distance of half a mile was LUKE KELLY in 1st with team mate KELVIN KEARNEY coming in to claim 3rd just a second behind 2nd place. In the girls race EMMY THORNTON just missed out on a podium place with 4th, REBECCA PARKE close behind in 5th and LEAH FINNEGAN coming in 10th.
In the U13s mile CALLUM MCILROY came in 9th with NICK PARKE in 21st.
The U15s 2mile race, which was 2 laps saw THOMAS REID leading for the first lap. He was overtaken coming into the second lap, finishing in 5th.
ANDREW MILLIGAN was running in the U17s (under BRA), placing 13th.
Sunday saw the all Ireland uneven age group cross country take place. 7 athletes made the journey to Santry for the event which was well populated. CALLUM MCILROY was first up in the U11s coming in 106th. In the U15 boys TONY MCCAMBRIDGE and THOMAS REID finished 30th and 95th. In the U15 girls DOMINIQUE MCALLISTER came in 139th. In the U17s AINE DRAIN finished 102nd in the girls and ANDREW MILLIGAN finished 84th. CONAL MCCAMBRIDGE ran in the U19s finishing 14th.
Well done to the three junior athletes of the month for November. They are COIRLE FINNEGAN, CARLA MULDOON and DOMINIQUE MCALLISTER. This prize is awarded each month to the athlete or athletes who have been noticed as having a positive attitude towards their training and who make that extra effort. Well done girls! Keep it up.
