Armagh International Road Races
Thursday 19th Feb saw some impressive performances by some of the juniors especially given the competitiveness of the event. Piaras McShane, Odhran Catney, Conleth Conway and Dominique McAllister all ran well as reported in last weeks senior report. Also doing us proud were in race 4 Kelvin Kearney Kearney 4th, Sean Nielan 6th, Senan Nagle 98th, Niall Kerr 124th. In race 7 Eimear McBrien 14th, race 8 Fionn Nagle 26th, Brendan McCambridge 36th and race 9 Lauren Cox 9th, Bryanna Catney 29th.
Schools Cross Country
In the schools XC on Tuesday 24th there were also excellent runs by young Harriers including Conal McCambridge, Tony McCambridge, Fionn Nagle, Lauren Cox, Rebecca Wallace, Luke Kelly, Dominique McAllister, Thomas Reid, Kellen Finlay, Eimear McBrien, and Andrew Milligan.
Mary Peters Track-Firmus Super 5
On Wednesday 25th February, Caitlin Maguire received the U17 girls Athlete of the Series Award for the firmus super 5 (now the super 6) 2014. She was awarded this for her outstanding performances in the 100m and 200m sprints.
Normally, parkrun results for junior harriers are included in the senior report but on this occassion having had the opportunity to simply observe a parkrun, I felt there were a few performances which merited another mention. On Saturday 28th February, Andrew Milligan ran his 50th parkrun in style by picking up not only a PB but also a first place at waterworks. Luke Kelly and Callum McIlroy clearly have no intention of slowing down, both boys picking up PBs at waterworks and Larne respectively. Also noted was the comraderie of young members, helping each other around the course, Eimear McBrien and Lauren Cox, also Jane O’Hara and new member Chloe Montgomery.
Athletes of the month for February are Kellen Finlay and Eimear McBrien. Well done!
