It was great to see our juniors return to training this week after having a restful month of July (although from the last report it is evident a lot of them remained busy!). I’m sure everyone was eager as ever to get back to training and catchup with summer gossip and news. A quick reminder that all sessions have resumed – Tuesdays @ Girl’s Model 6:30pm and Thursdays 6pm in hall for minis and 6:30 at Boy’s Model track.
This weekend proved a busy one for some of our junior athletes.
This week’s events
On Wednesday 5th the Crawfordsburn 5k trail race took place in damp but comfortable running conditions. This undulating, and in places very muddy race, saw a field of 169 competitors in which Piaras McShane came 43rd with a great time of 21:33. Well done Piaras!
On the evening of Friday 7th Rebecca Wallace took to the field in Carlingford, taking 1st place in the girls U15 1500m race! Well done, winning is becoming a bit of a habit Rebecca, keep up the great work!
The Subway Healthy Hearts 5k took place Sunday 9th August, and as ever was a popular run with a field of 300! Luke Kelly continues to demonstrate his determination, and just goes from strength to strength coming in 1st in this race. I think he may have start watching his back soon though as little brother Dan is hot on his heels coming 30th. We might see a little sibling competition pretty soon! Well done Rachel Blythe Stone who also ran today. Results to follow.
