London Calling…..

A busy couple of weeks for our juniors with Open Meets, Indoor Championships, and Cross Country Finals to attend. Rebecca Wallace and Eimear McBrien were selected to represent Northern Ireland at London Mini Marathon. Well done to all those who took part in activities.

ANI Open Shot, Sprints and Hurdles, UUJ, 23rd January.
Men’s Shot Adam McCollough claimed first place throwing 7.73m (6kg). U19 boys sprint Adam ran a time of 9.08 in his heat. Caitlin Maguire (U18) ran 7.92 in her heat then 7.93 to finish first in her final.

Northern Ireland and Ulster Indoor Age Group T&F Champs, Sat 6th & Sun 7th February.
Three NBH junior athletes made the journey to Magherafelt Indoor Arena to represent the club in these championships. Zane McQuillan had a busy time, he competed in 3 events, medalling in 2 of them. In the boys U13 60m Heat he recorded a time of 9.13 then went on to pick up a bronze medal in the final running a time of 8.92 He then competed in the U13 boys High Jump, jumping a final height of 1m 20 to finish 4th overall. He then went on to claim bronze in the boys U13 hurdles. In the Girls U15 800m Lauren Cox recorded a time of 2min 47 to finish 12th overall in this event which was ran as a time trial. Caitlin Maguire was crowned Ulster Champion in the U18 Girls 60m. She ran a time of 7.97. Following this, Caitlin went on to claim yet another gold in the Girls U18 200m, recording a time of 26.58. Well done to all three athletes.

Milk It Ulster Secondary Schools’ Athletic Association Cross Country, Mallusk Playing Fields, Wed 10th February.
A great turn out of junior stags and stag-ettes ran at the USSAA Cross Country races. Rebecca Wallace took 1st place (Ulster Champion 3rd year), Eimear McBrien (7th in Ulster 2nd year), Lauren Cox (38th in Ulster 2nd year), Luke (15th in Ulster year 8), Callum McIlroy (26th year 8), Cian McGrath (66th year 8), Kelvin Kearney (70th year 8), Andrew Milligan (11th senior boys), Conor O’Rawe (44th senior boys), Eamon Sheridan (61st senior boys) and Niall Armstrong (65th senior boys).

Eimear and Rebecca’s finishing positions secured selection to represent Northern Ireland at the London Mini Marathon on 24th April. Congratulations girls 🙂

Flahavans Porridge Primary Schools’ XC Final, Wed 10th February.
In the PS Cross Country event, Eva Kissenpfennig came 17th and Sean Nielan 107th in their races.
