A lot of activity in the last 14 days for the juniors including the Titanic 1 mile and the Firmus Energy super 6 Series at Mary Peter’s Track.
The juniors turned up in huge numbers for the Titanic 1 mile on Sunday 10th April. Almost twenty members lined up on a windy day by Belfast Lough.
At the Mary Peter’s Track on Thursday 14th April the junior harriers were out in force. Jessica McAllister (18th in 1000m) and Daniel Kelly (4th in Long Jump) started the surge for the minis.
U-13 boys saw Kelvin Kearney (15th place overall) and Harry Plumb (21st) running well the in 100m. This was followed up by a strong effort in the u-13 1500m (Callum McIlroy 9th, Luke Kelly 10th and Harry Plumb 18th). Kelvin went on to grab a silver medal in the long jump (3.91m) with Luke Kelly 11th (3.20m), Callum McIroy 15th (2.96m) and Harry Plumb 18th (2.20m).
U-13 girls 100m saw Alicia Whyte-McGivern (43rd overall) run well in the opening event of the night. In the 1500m Emma McBrien (14th) and Alicia (26th) competed in a strong field. Alicia was involved with the long jump (30th) this time; she was joined by Holly Diamond (10th) who jumped to a top ten position.
U-15 girls this time and Rebecca Wallace produced the performance of the night. The Ulster Champion and Ireland representative was victorious in the 1500m (5:02:45) with Eimear McBrien (8th 5:17:64) and Lauren Cox (12th 5:32:14) all doing their club proud.
U-17 girls saw Dominique McAllister walk away with a well deserved bronze medal in the 1500m.
U-15 boys this time and Cian McGrath (10th) ran well in 100m. The 1500m was a fast race and strong runs by Peter Reed (18th) Cian McGrath (21st) and Brendan McCambridge (25th) finished the events on the night.
