Run the Bann 5km Road Race, Portglenone, Co. Antrim

The week’s fixtures kicked off in Mid Antrim, where over 300 runners took to the streets of Portglenone to race the 5 km distance, with nearly 50 runners finishing under the 20 minute mark. One NBH runner took part in this race; Vernon Shiels crossed the line in 17:19 to secure 5th place overall.

East Coast AC, Larne 10km, Larne Co. Antrim:

One of the big local events of the weekend was the new 10km race organised by East Coast AC. The race attracted over 180 runners who were out to enjoy the sunshine, seek a PB or make the most of a ‘sharpener’ before the cross country season or the Autumn marathons.

The race was won by Mark McKinstry (32:46) and Rebecca Henderson of Dromore AC (36:28). NBH was well represented throughout the field and made up half of the top ten positions, including the win by Mark. The results no doubt provided a boost for the NBH runners and bodes well for the winter season ahead. See results in the table below.

To top that off, NBH junior runners were also competing at Larne and they took the top 2 steps of the podium, Ethan Glenn and Callum McIlroy completed the 800m course in 2:45 and 2:55 respectively, to take 1st and 2nd positions.
