NBH athletes out in both force and style

Belfast Half Marathon

It’s hard to know where to start with the review of the 4th annual running of the Belfast HM, another new course that seemed to go down well with most athletes – 2 NBH in the top five, 2nd female overall, six athletes in the top 25, a massive turn out from the club at all levels turning Ormeau Park into a sea of yellow vests.

Louise Smith secured second place on the ladies’ podium behind Laura Graham with a fantastic time of 1.21.42 and 45th place overall.  The very recent Larne 10k winner and runner-up, Mark McKinstry and John Black, held their 4th and 5th positions from half way to finish in times of 1.11.10 and 1.12.31 respectively.  Andrew Considine finished just outside the top 10 in 11th place in a time of 1.16.01, just in front of Kent Swann (1.16.12) in 13th, with Tommy Simmons coming in just over a minute later in 1.17.29 for 18th place, and Neil Carty securing 23rd position in 1.18.09.   Martin Cox was first M50 in a time of 1.21.01for 41st overall.    Other results: 54  Paul Curley 01:22:30; 60 Mary Margaret Meade 01:23:43; 71 David Kennedy 01:24:26;  158  Arran Rutledge 01:29:12; 167 John Murphy 01:29:38; 170 Martin Rea 01:29:51; 171 Gareth Grew 01:29:54; 176  Colin Simpson 01:29:55; 180 Ray Cameron 01:30:03; 212 Sarah-Jane McFadden 01:31:22; 219  Conor O’Rawe 01:31:46; 225 Penelope Lindsay 01:32:10; 232 Janice Plumb 01:32:18; 247  John McConnell 01:32:59;286 Greg McClure 01:34:17; 293 John Steele 01:34:31; 427  Jennifer Curley 01:38:37; 477  Eamon Sheridan 01:40:06; 528  Gordon Glenn 01:40:38;663 Jim Clinton 01:43:13; 763 Alexander Plumb  01:45:54; 951 Elaine Holmes 01:49:56; 1011 Donna McLaughlin 01:51:09; 1253 Paul Carlin 01:54:23; 1295 Ruth Murphy 01:56:40; 1576  Karen Clarken 02:01:28; 1577 John Beggs 02:00:39; 1620 Anthony Fleming  02:01:12;
