Mooathon Donegal
On Saturday, several Harriers travelled to Downings, County Donegal to participate in the Mooathon events. With the options of a Full-Fat Marathon, a Semi-Skimmed Half and a Mini Moo 10k the club vests were swapped for Moo-re appropriate attire!

Bangor 10k
Closer to home on Saturday and in wet and blustery conditions, the annual Aurora Bangor 10k road race took place on the north Down coast. The club were represented on the podium by Mark McKinstry who placed 3rd and the Harriers were again present throughout the field of over 600 runners.

26 Extreme Causeway Coast events
Over 1,000 runners participated in the series of races along the picturesque Causeway coast on Saturday. The coastal breeze blew in all weathers and the coastal route provided a variety of testing terrains for the runners to cover. Helen Weir took a podium place in the 10k and Thomas McKinstry was presented with his 25th marathon medal after completing his first Ultra.

Berlin Marathon
The annual Berlin Marathon was held on Sunday morning in the September sunshine. North Belfast Harriers have enjoyed the flat, fast course of this world record breaking route for several years and regular attendee Greg McClure was joined by half a dozen club members on the starting line. Reaping the benefit of those long training runs in Belfast summer sunshine, Edward Cooke and Gladys Ganiel were aiming for fast pbs and a World Championships IAAF qualifying standard was in sight for Gladys who finished in 10th place with her second fastest time for the marathon distance.

Dublin City Half Marathon
In slightly cooler conditions down in Dublin’s Phoenix Park, an number of Harriers took part in the final build up race of the Dublin Marathon Series. Thomas Simmons placed 2nd in his age category and both Brendan and Gareth Grew were within the top ten of their respective age classes. The race provided a solid test for those going on to run the Dublin Marathon at the end of next month.
