Seeley Cup 10k
It was three times along the embankment and through Ormeau Park for the thirty-plus Harriers on Saturday at the Seeley 10km. The race was the 35th running of the Seeley Cup and also incorporated the NI and Ulster 10k (Road) Championship. Also, the race was the final event in the Novosco 10k Grand Prix. So with all that at stake, the race was an early sell out for the 1000 places available and had attracted several of the provinces best talent.
Conditions were much better than twelve months previous and provided opportunities for personal bests and some fast running. At the front end, the pace was fierce with sub 5 minute miles being run. In the Men’s race, the Harriers had 6 finishers in the top 50 and all sub 35 minutes which secured 2nd place for the club and the Ladies also picked up 3rd in the team competitions. Almost half of the Harriers running picked up PBs as well as an age category win for Ita McCambridge.
