Sperrin Trail Series, Davagh Forest 10k

The first race of the Sperrin Harriers Winter Trail Series took place on Saturday 10 December at Davagh Forest near Cookstown.  This popular series, known for its hospitality as well as great atmosphere, is now in its eighth year and welcomes athletes who travel from all over the province to take part.   183 runners took to the start line of this 10k trail route, embracing perfect running conditions.  Participants from NBH were: Helen Weir, 74th 47.51; John Burns 131st 54.15; Lynn McCullough 132nd 54.15; Donna McLaughlin 133rd 54.27; Eadaoin Donaldson 171st 56.43; Phil McIlwrath 170 59.13; Nisha Sharma 174th 73.09.  The next in the series is the Lough Fea 5k on 7 January 2017.

 

Parkanaur Runher 10k

A new race in the Belfast Telegraph Runher series sprung up in Parkanaur Forest Park, Dungannon on Sunday 11th December, with both 5 and 10k distances available for participants.  This ladies only race in the ever-popular series saw NBH’s Ita McCambridge take top honours in the 10k, with a finishing time of 46.22.  Daughters Orla and Catriona were 12th and 13th in the same race, with times of 54.22 and 54.30 respectively.  [Apologies to anyone else from the club who took part, the results do not show clubs]

AAI National Juvenile & Novice XC Championships

An array of talent from NBH travelled to Dundalk on Sunday 11 December to take part in the Novice Men Senior Event.  In a rightly-packed field of 172 covering a distance of 6000 metres, Conal McCambridge was first home for the club in 10th place in a time of 19.43, followed by John Black in 22nd in 20.07; Philip Goss in 24th place in 20.10; Andrew Considien 42nd in 20.29; Kent Swann 62nd in 20.54 and Shane Donnelly 70th in 21.oo.  North Belfast took the team bronze with a total of 98 points, McCambridge, Black, Goss and Considine scoring.  McCambridge, Black and Goss also scored to give County Antrim the team silver.

And a congratulations and well done is due to Conal McCambridge, who has been selected to run for NI and Ulster at the Celtics XC in Cardiff in January!
