Brooks Armagh 3km & 5km International Road Race, Co. Armagh
The 27th edition of the Armagh International Road Races was the highlight of the weeks racing and it brought local and international runners to the Orchard County on Thursday evening. The fantastic setting attracts a large number of runners from the UK, Europe and the United States to race the loops around the Mall, with each year an increasing number of runners racing the 5km in ever faster times. This year 80 runners completed the 5km in 15 mins or under.
The first race of the evening was the women’s 3km which was won by Laura Weightman of Morpeth Harriers in a time of 8:59, 29 women followed her to finish in under 10 minutes. The first NBH runner across the line was Rebecca Wallace who was second in her age category, NBH also won the 1st team in Junior Under 16 age category:

The second race of the evening was the men’s 5km event, which saw 80 runners hurtle across the finish line in 15 mins or under. Ben Connor finished first (13:55) and there were 4 NBH runners who finished all under 16 minutes.

The final event of the evening was the men’s 3km race, which was won by Stephen Mackay from Inverness Harriers (8:45). NBH had nine runners in this event, with the following great performances across all age groups of the club:

Atlas Running – Last One Standing 2017, Castle Ward, Co. Down:
This unique event is a ‘last one standing’ endurance race where runners were challenged to complete a 4.2 mile lap every hour until they could run no longer. 179 runnners started at 12pm on Saturday.
The last remaining lady was Louise Smart (County Antrim Harriers) who finished 26 laps (totalling 109.2 miles). The remaining men were Peter Cromie (Roe Valley CC) and Denis Keane (Marathon Club Ireland) who both completed 151.2 miles, 35 laps in total.
NBH runner Coleen Thompson complete this challenge finishing an impressive 10 laps and numerous hours of running in the scenic location.
