In the Senior Men’s 10,110m Mark McKinstry showed no sign of fatigue after his win last week in the Larne Half Marathon. He led the Senior Men’s Team home in 33:42 (14th place) thus helping them to gain 6th place overall.
Jog Belfast 5km
Jog Belfast aims to enable the people of Belfast to choose to live a fit and active lifestyle through running and by doing so improve their own physical and mental health. The second Jog Belfast 5km took place on Sunday 26th March in Ormeau Park following the success of last year’s inaugural race when over 400 athletes competed. The sun shone on those taking part and all competitors were rewarded with a beautifully designed medal. The race was won by Ciaran Toner in a time of 19:27, followed by Eddie King who finished in 19.49. The junior runner, Matthew Carleton, led the North Belfast Harriers home in 7th position in 23:37. His mum, Catherine, must have been very proud of him on Mother’s Day as she crossed the finish line. It was a fantastic family day for many of the runners; sisters Martine McAnoy and Leanne Magee, sisters Nuala and Marie-Claire McCullough, mother and daughter Claire and Rhiannon Kelly, mother and son Sinead and James Toal all took part in the Jog Belfast 5km on Sunday.
