NBH Race Report, 26th February – 4th March 2018
Due to Storm Emma, sub-zero temperatures and blizzard-like conditions many races were cancelled over the week however Greg McClure managed to put in a stellar performance being the only North Belfast Harrier making it to a race and topping that off by winning his age category. Other North Belfast Harriers made it out to parkruns where they could.
The first day of Spring is on its way soon and we are ready and waiting to get out racing again.
Eastbourne Half Marathon
Away from the ice and snow, there were 940 finishers in Eastbourne’s 14th half marathon -despite the drizzly weather.
The race began in Princes Park where runners were treated to a challenging climb on the edge of the South Downs towards Beachy Head between miles 2 and 4 with the rest of the course being mainly flat.
The first male came in at 1:15:10 and the first female at 1:26:28 making our ever impressive NBH athlete Greg McClure finish in 80th place at 1:37:14 all the more impressive and winning him first place male in the V60 category.

Only a fifth of parkruns took place across the UK this Saturday and this is due to the great work carried out by the volunteers and organisers who braved the cold weather to let us run.
Of the parkruns that did take place Stormont had the 4th largest attendance numbers in the UK, Antrim was 26th biggest, Waterworks came in 45th place and the Valley and Larne were in 84th and 85th place respectively.
