NBH RACE REPORT w/e Sunday 6th May

NBH RACE REPORT w/e Sunday 6th May 2018

As the temperatures gradually increased this week, the number of races in the calendar seemed to have decreased. Nonetheless, the NBH athletes attended those on offer.

NI Running Mile

On Friday 4 May, Mary Peters’ Track was the venue for NI Running’s annual Mile event. This is held in conjunction with the British Milers Club (BMC) and includes one-mile races for runners of all abilities. This popular distance and event didn’t disappoint, nor did the performances of the NBH athletes who participated. Congratulations to David Clarke and James Trainor who both came first in their respective races.

Irish Milers Club (IMC) Meeting (Greystones) 2018

On Saturday 5th May, John Black represented NBH at the IMC Greystones Meeting, just outside Dublin.

The well-organised meeting offered races over 800m, 1500m and 5,000m. John crossed the line in 15:09.99 for 7th place in the 5K ‘B’ race. Well done!

Hill & Dale Series (Race 4 – Binnian)

Two harriers took part in the next race of the Hill and Dale Series organised by Newcastle AC.  Out of a total of 231 runners, Neil Carty claimed 14th position with a time of 25:17  Martsje Hell came in first for the ladies in 27:00.  Excellent times from both racers.

Annalong Horseshoe 2018

BARF organised the above on Saturday 5th May.  Starting at 11am, the challenging course required the participants to descend the track from Binnian and visit five given checkpoints in the order stated.  A serious test of endurance, navigation and fell running.  Over 100 other athletes completed the 13.1 mile course but the two harriers had outstanding performances; Martsje being the first lady home for the second time this week.  Well done!

EAMS

East Antrim Marathon Series on Sunday 6th May gave two NBH members additional results.  In the Belfast B2B marathon, Frankey McGivern completed in 6:42:07.  A PB of 3mins 12 seconds, 3rd female and a time of 2hrs 12mins and 42s was a great result for Padraigín Bingham!  Congratulations to both ladies.

Parkrun

The club was represented at 14 different parkrun locations this weekend. Well done to Nat Glenn and Andrew Milligan, 1st home at Larne and Durham respectively. Also, a special mention to our NBH athletes who achieved PBs this weekend, Robbie Speers, Catherine Seawright and Grainne Stephens. Congratulations to all who took part.
