NBH Race Report 9 – 15 December 2019

Nearing Christmas week, it is no surprise that there were less fixtures in the athletics calendar.  The only event was the latest race in the cross-country league where members travelled to the North West.  The men remain on top and after a sterling effort to enter a full team, the ladies finished second overall in the race and have now climbed in to third in the league.  However, members of North Belfast Harriers have not been as quiet in the inaugural Spirit of Running Gala Awards 2020 where some of our athletes, coaches and fundraisers have been nominated in no less than nine categories!  Get voting online and congratulations to all our nominees.

North West XC (Saturday 14 December)

The distance to travel didn’t deter the stags who travelled up to the North West to take part in the City of Derry Spartans fixture.  The journey was particularly worthwhile for Mark McKinstry who finished second overall and for Sarah Jane McFadden and Penny Lindsay who also won their respective age categories.  A great turnout from the ladies to secure the points means that they are sitting in third position and the men’s team remain top of the league.  Great running everyone.

Park run

Well done to John Beggs who celebrated his 50th park run at Waterworks on Saturday, providing the all-important cake.  Also, a special mention to NBH’s Stephen Walker who finished first at the same event and to those other runners who achieved PBs or celebrated milestones.
