Carrickfergus Midnight Marathon and Half Marathon – Saturday 1st February
Organised by We Run Wild NI, this event is unique to Northern Ireland as it is the only Midnight Marathon/Half where runners self navigate following a step by step roadbook. Runners leave from Carrickfergus Castle and run along lanes, trails, rural roads and through forests. The vast majority is off Road and is quite a challenging course. The following Harriers took part:
Run Forest Run Antrim Castle Gardens – Saturday 1st February
Antrim Castle Gardens 5K & 10K is the 7th race in the Belfast Telegraph Run Forest Run Series. The race starts in the grounds of the gardens and the 10K route takes in the ruins of Shanes Castle (another Game of Thrones venue) where runners will enjoy some fantastic views of Lough Neagh and then returns through the immaculately kept gardens and wood at Castle Gardens. The 5K is mainly in the gardens with a small section on the Main Road. The following Harriers took part and Mark McAvoy placed 1st in the 10k with a time of 34:09 – well done Mark!
