North Belfast Harriers Race Report 29th August – 4th September 2022

Another busy week for North Belfast Harriers as the club hosted the Laganside 10k. There were plenty of Harriers running, volunteering and organising over the last seven days.

Firmus Track & Field Meet 1st Sept
100m Sen W Darragh Andrews ran a PB 16:33
800m Sen M Conor Curran ran a PB 2:02:67
and as reported in the earlier report, several juniors also competed.

Coastal 5k
On Friday evening Glenlough Running Club hosted the Coastal 5k running between Carnlough and Glenarm. Over 320 runners raced the flat and fast coastal road route. John Black was first across the finish line, with Brandon taking 3rd place. Sarah-Jane placed 2nd.

21st World Masters Mountain Running Championship, Clonmel.
This was the first time that the World Masters ha been run in Ireland and it took place over the Comeragh Mountains in County Waterford. The M/W35s to 50s ran the long course of 10.5km with 635m of climb and 345m of descent over forest trail and open mountain. NBH were represented by Philip Goss who narrowly missed out on an age category podium but helped achieve team gold for the Irish team.

Nat Glenn ran the shorter course finishing 12th in 46:47

We Run Wild NI Bangor Castle to Carrickfergus Castle
The Castle Trilogy part 3 was a coastal and mostly flat route around Belfast Lough from Bangor to Carrickfergus.

Waterside Half Marathon NI & Ulster Championship
The 39th Waterside Half Marathon took place on Sunday morning. Starting in Ebrington Square, the route took runners across the river, to the cityside, through parks, along greenways and over bridges before finishing at St. Columb’s Park.

Gladys Ganiel won the women’s 10k and Martsje Hell placed 3rd. There were plenty of great runs at the Laganside 10k and great feedback for the event hosted by North Belfast Harriers. Congratulations to those who organised and volunteered and well done to everyone who ran, podiumed in their age category and those who ran PBs.
