North Belfast Harriers Junior Report 9th – 16th October 2022

This week gave our runners opportunity to train well throughout the week and take part in the local park runs.  Training continues as normal in the week ahead with sights turning to the Ulster Even’s XC in Comber on the 22nd.  Many thanks to the parents who have helped with setting up and taking down lights etc. at the track this week.  Your support is greatly appreciated.  Park run results as follows:

Waterworks 2km Park Run Sunday 16th October.

Congratulations to Emily Gamble on setting a new personal best at the Waterworks 2km park run this weekend.  Not be long before you’re in the 9 minute club Emily.  Well done to Thomas for leading the pack and all of our other runners for taking part.

Waterworks 5km Park Run, Saturday 15th October.

Six of our runners took on the 5km park run at the Waterworks on Saturday.  Well done all excellent work.

Victoria Park 5km Park Run, Saturday 15th October.

Congratulations to Charlie on his new personal best this weekend at Victoria Park.  Great sign of coming into form ahead of the XC.

Also worth mentioning (as I’m sure he’s a regular reader of this report), mid-Ulster athlete Nick Griggs, who at the first attempt set a new course record of 14 minutes and 15 seconds at the Victoria Park venue this weekend.  Not bad for 17 years old.

Ulster Evens XC 

Keep an eye on the WhatsApp group this week for any updates in relation to Comber on the 22nd.  Advice is as per usual, check any traffic reports on the morning of the race to ensure arrival in good time.  Typically advise to be there no less than 45 minutes before the start of the race to allow for bib collection (at the NBH Gazebo) and warm-up with the rest of the age group squad.
