A very busy week for the Harriers. Venues ranged from the Titanic slipways all the way to Toronto, Canada.

Sat 15th Oct:       GR8 Dundrum Run

Organised by Murlough Athletics Club, this run is billed as not your average road race. The eight mile long route started and finished in the picturesque village of Dundrum, Co Down, and took runners through the Murlough Nature Reserve before running for a mile on the beach. The mixed terrain course was ran by 28 Harriers.

Sun 16th Oct:      Centra Run Together

Two versions of this race are available: a 10k and a 5k. The aim of both events is to raise much-needed funds for Action Cancer. Over 600 runners supported the two events.

The races took place with Ormeau park with the 10k incorporating a tricky trail element.

Sun 16th Oct:      Toronto Marathon

The Toronto Marathon course is described as fast, downhill, and scenic, winding through many of the city’s great neighbourhoods.

Mark McAvoy didn’t have much time to take in the sights however. He completed the course in a super-fast time of 2:34:34 which is a PB for Mark.

Sun 16th Oct:      Tour of the Island Marathon

This Marathon starts and finishes in Whitehead but takes runners on a journey to Ballycarry before heading to Islandmagee itself where they take in most of the island, running on almost every road and visiting every location.

Three Harriers took part in this self-navigated marathon. There were plenty of hills and some beautiful scenery as they made their way round Islandmagee.

Sun 16th Oct:      Oxford Half Marathon

Natasha Henderson represented the Harriers in Oxford, completing the Half-Marathon in an impressive 1:29:12. Well done Natasha.

Sun 16th Oct:      Dune Half Marathon

This is a cross border race starting in Newry and finishing in Dundalk. Kevin Crossley completed the route in 2:00:16. Well done Kevin.

Sun 16th Oct:      Pink Run

The 5K Pink Run is back! Starting at the Titanic Slipways, Belfast, runners spend their time getting covered head to toe in pink powder. It’s all for a good cause – Cancer Focus NI.

Elizabeth French represented the Harriers.

Sat 15th Oct 2022: PARKRUNS

A total of 57 North Belfast Harriers took part in 15 parkruns this week. A great turnout!

Well done to Fionnuala O’HARE and Martsje HELL for being the first lady finishers at Waterworks and Hillsborough Forest parkruns respectively. Also to Conan McCAUGHEY for being the first finisher at Ballinamore Greenway parkrun.
